It's a prequel to the main storyline and deals with adventures and battles of the Locke family's recent ancestors. It creatively weaves characters and storylines from the Sandman series to show how the dreamworld and hell play a part in how the magical keys operate. The finale especially was excellent, probably the best artistry and plot points. It shows that while the modern Locke family may have used the keys, they were only really scratching the surface of what they could be used for. Some of the scenes in hell are pretty disturbing.I was really disappointed by the other extra volume, Heaven & Earth, but this one was really a labor of love meant to give extra context to the main story. It also makes me want to take another crack at finishing the Sandman series.* > ### Highlights ### References [^1]: Joe Hill (Year). *Locke & Key: The Golden Age* [Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58385159-locke-key)
